WHERE WE LIVE: In a small town called Carstairs Alberta just 50 km north of the City of Calgary and an hour from the Rocky Mountains which are to the west of us and the prairies to the east. Having lived in Carstairs for 24 yrs we are part of the community, our now four children have been educated here and were heavily involved with local sports scene as have my wife Mary and myself.
WHERE WE WORK: I am semi-retired and work for myself as an Electrical Safety Advisor and a semi-pro photographer. Since coming to Canada I have worked at a couple of jobs as an electrician until spending the last 26 yrs working for an electrical utility from which I retired as a Health & Safety Specialist. My wife Mary owns and operates a small Childrens Day Care in the town.
WHERE WE COME FROM: Originally I am from Llanhilleth in the Western Valley and my wife is from Pontypool. I worked Llanhilleth Colliery as an apprentice electrician and then electrician. We moved to Weymouth in Dorset then back to Wales then here.
WHAT WE MISS: The walks on the mountains, friends and family, pubs and rugby. What we dont miss is the cold rain, though saying that, where we live which is at 4000ft above sea level it can get very cold but it isnt damp. |
